That's the wrong reason to be uncomfortable.

    Since guns owned by government employees, especially cops, just seem to "go off" at random times, the teacher was using common sense to remove this danger from their classroom. You usually have one or two stories a day about some government employee owned weapon that fires on it's own accord.
