This Oughtta Get Some Heads Exploding

Senior ATF official proposes loosening gun regulations [More]
I may have more in a day or so  -- I need to check some stuff first.  A lot of people besides WaPo's award-winning plagiarist have been covering this (Dean Weingarten does his traditional excellent job and even credibly suggests motive) and, being a mere Unauthorized Journalist, I want to be able to add a unique perspective (if I can find one) rather than just reword the work of others.

In the mean time, here's the paper in question.

  1. I think they realize they have lost the argument. They are also looking to salvage their agency.

  2. This looks to me like a line in the sand. "See here, the ATF is good!" Here are the areas where we (ATF) will accept loosening the restrictions. By framing the dialog, they take some high ground, but I believe there's fear in their eyes hidden behind the dark sunglasses of contempt. They have to know that if they don't concede something, the whole outfit is likely to end up on the chopping block. Turk even asks for a confirmed director, which without they aren't a legitimate bureau. If they cede too much, Trump sees what little value they add, and again, they end up on the chopping block. There has never been a better time to remove the "F" from the BATFE. They see the writing on the wall, and are hoping to keep much of the NFA, and GCA intact. Now is the time to redouble one's efforts to restore the true meaning to "shall not be infringed."

David, take a deep breath. Step back and look at this. My BS detector is pegged. The FAKE siren is screaming. This is like the endless "secret papers" released about Alien Lifeforms hidden in Roswell in underground bases.

OK sorry if it sounded like a hit on you. After a dozen in depth serious treatments of this on my feed reader I got carried away. Just don't want to see you waste time or sully your reputation on such nonsense. I still be lovin ya !
