How the Mighty Have Fallen

Fairfax Ex-Mayor Pleads Guilty to Meth Distribution After Sex Sting [More]
Say it an't so. Not "Mayor for Hillary" R. Scott Silverman!

Do you think it's too late to send him the Everytown declaration? I'm thinking maybe he could sign onto it from his cell, and it'll look good for the parole board.

  1. But he was just turning his life around! From the article:

"He made a mistake. He's only human. He went through rehab. He's trying to get his life together, and for something like this to happen is just nonsense for what I consider a minor drug offense for a first-time offender," Chris Minich said.

Silverthorne's sister-in-law, Mary Silverthorne, argued that he wasn't treated fairly in court. "I think if he wasn't a public figure, this would not have happened," she said.

Personally, I do not think the government should be in the business of telling us what we may or may not ingest, but that's another issue altogether.

Yep. Public figures, especially public officials with power over others, are (or should be) held to a higher standard. I'd bet that if a Fairfax City cop were convicted of the same crime, the mayor's sister-in-law wouldn't be crying that he was locked up till sentencing. And she shouldn't be.

  3. "On August 4, 2016, then-Mayor Scott Silverthorne (D) was arrested in a sting operation conducted by the Fairfax County Police Department."
    From Wikipedia
    Hmmm. Democrat. No surprise there.
