What does the freakin’ poster say ? A transcription would have been interesting. Is it made from ballistic resistant materials ? Or, is it just a sarcastic comment ? [More]
I couldn't find the text to copy and paste so had to take a screenshot. You'll forgive me if I don't type the whole thing out.
There's another version with a different headline but the same text.
So, they print a sign on Kevlar, and say it will stop a bullet? I wouldn't want to stake my life on that, as typical Class IIA (16 layers of Kevlar) are needed to stop a 9mm round, and more like 30 layers are needed to stop a .44 Magnum round.
ReplyDeleteUnless this sign is at least 9-10mm thick multi-layer kevlar, it is fairly useless at stopping magnum pistol rounds. Publicity stunt aside, I wonder if an injured party who relied on this sign's "advertisement" could sue under a theory of "Detrimental Reliance" if they were injured while taking the sign's advice...
...just a thought...

"The likelihood of those things happening to you are incredibly minuscule, but statistics show that they do happen, and at an alarmingly high rate."
ReplyDeleteLogic challenged, are we, Giffords and Kelly? Which rate is it, minuscule, or alarmingly common? It can't be both!
Even if the claim about the ballistic protection offered by the poster is accurate, the reader would still have to be on the correct (opposite) side from the impacting bullet. So, at best, it is only approximately 50% effective.
