Six families who own cottages next to Chris Christie's private beach were ordered to leave their homes under threat of ARREST while the governor lounged in the sun [More]"Own"?
Do they "lease" the land?
Not that it would excuse the overall royal arrogance, but I'd be interested in seeing the terms of the leases and if they knew or should have known what they were getting into.
It appears this article was written with an agenda in mind.

From what I can tell, which is NOT definitive, they own the cottages but the cottages are in the park and access/ use of the land they are on is leased.
ReplyDeleteDuring the 2013 government shutdown, rangers (Forest Service law enforcement) kicked out a number of people from similar cottages in national forests throughout the west, often at gun point and in several cases causing injuries because they insisted that the elderly inhabitants just had to leave RIGHT NOW.
Both situations are good reasons to NOT rely on a government easement or permission for where you live, even if it is only a seasonal cottage like these are.
