Too Smart By Half

A smart device in the home apparently heard “call the sheriffs,” and proceeded to call the sheriffs. [More]
And I'm sure if they'd come in blazing, it would have been deemed "standard protocol."

  1. Apparently, nobody does their homework anymore.

Something like 30 YEARS AGO, one of the early ‘i’ve fallen and I can’t get up” devices had the capability to call for ambulances or police when they heard such an order. Police reported an increase in nuisance calls whenever actors on popular TV shows said, "Call the police.” Curiously, one of the most common false triggers identified were certain Three Stooges episodes.

Now, apparently, we have a new generation of stooges in Silicon Valley, making the same old mistakes with new high-tech devices.
