We're the Only Ones Going to the Dogs Enough

A video camera lodged on the roof captured the cop’s encounter in the fenced-in backyard, showing Ciroc wagging his tail at the officer seconds before coming under fire. [More]
I wonder what the story would have been if the homeowner didn't have a security camera.

  1. I just caught some carnie/gypsy scum bag wandering from my yard into my neighbor's on Friday (peeking in Windows /casing). I learned several things:
1)I AM NOT in the same shape I was 20 years ago.
2)Always keep lose fitting pants snuggly cinched around your waist (lest you find yourself chasing a carnie around your neighbor's house like the opening credits of Benny Hill with your shorts around your ankles, allowing the little #@&*to escape)
3)Meditate on the different types of force you'd be willing to use to subdue an interloper
4)Never trust that the cops will do their jobs properly (they never interviewed me or my neighbors)
5)Get surveillance set up ASAP so as to defend yourself in cases such as the above article or in cases where the outcome of my chase may have ended differently.

I've been considering #5 for a while as I've been blessed with a new neighbor that I wish Dorothy would show up and drop a house on.. But I've become overwhelmed at the shear volume of different equipment available.
Any chance, David, that you or one of your faithful readers might have recommendations for affordable SHTF, bad cop/bad neighbor / bad guy cameras?
Sorry for the off topic post.

  3. This camera has been recommended in my neighborhood group, and is $39.99 from Amazon. You could probably get it on eBay too. Uses Li ion battery, records on SD card, can stream to WiFi:

(I hate to support Jeff Bezos, but it's hard to avoid Amazon sometimes, so I use Amazon Smile when I order from them to make a contribution to the Gun Owners Foundation. You specify the charity when you set up an account on Amazon Smile.)
