Family that lost 9 in Texas church shooting files wrongful death claims against Air Force [More]They blame the Air Force, the Air Force blames lack of training...
The one person to blame is dead. If ancillary blame is to be apportioned we could keep this going to include why the only person prepared to meet the monster head on was outside the church.

It certainly is _possible_ that this deranged wife and child abuser might not have managed this atrocity if he hadn't been able to buy his firearms fairly easily, due to the AF's mistake. While he could have purchased them from private sellers, that might have been too much work for him. We'll never know.
ReplyDeleteIt would indeed be interesting to hear if this church had a rule forbidding the carrying of firearms by its parishioners. That seems likely, based on the fact that the only armed response came from outside the church.
I'm hoping that churches which _do_ forbid carry by their parishioners might reconsider their position. After the increasing number of church shootings we have been seeing, it would make sense to either do that, or hire competent armed guards (off-duty cops?) to protect the people attending them.
To me the question is not whether the government’s meaningless paper bulls*t is going to prevent a shooting. It’s whether a government official who doesn’t comply with the government’s own meaningless paper bulls*t gets punished the same way one of us who doesn’t comply with the government’s meaningless paper bulls*t would have. It’s an entirely separate “crime.”
