Sorry, David, down here in the South we know that when a woman, especially a young woman, calls you "hon" or "babe" it is because she thinks you are too old to pose a (sexual) threat or take it as a come-on. In other words, you are a harmless old man. I hear "hon" and "babe" often, the latter more from country girls.
I'd tell you to man up, but that might offend you.
