Feel the Burn
Fire at a homeless encampment sparked Bel-Air blaze that destroyed homes, officials say [More]You mean the Jerry Brown and Chelsea Handler were wrong about this being Trump's fault, and that this was a known risk allowed by "progressive" state and city administrations?
The only way this could be any more ... uh ... ironic is if the firestarter was an illegal.

He's not so brave when someone prepared to reciprocate in kind appears. [More]
As for the woman getting out of her car, there's no one size fits all -- just sitting there, you'd be trapped if he pulled a gun. Once she did, I think her mistake was walking toward him and continuing to engage rather than running away screaming.

Fix NICS is Not Gun Control [More]NSSF and NRA said it, I believe it, that settles it.
And furthermore, what could be more inspiring than:
Instead of endorsing new laws that criminals would not obey, the generals and admirals should devote their energy and commit their prestige to helping ensure that the laws already on the books are enforced.Yeah! Enforce existing Intolerable Acts!
You know, the ones criminals already don't obey.
And remember -- it's NOT "gun control"!
Whad'ya know... Ignorance IS strength.

Gotta Replace Those Torn-Down Monuments with Something
Why not with a Hero to the State?
John Glenn statue proposed for Ohio Statehouse [More]I said my piece on the guy here.
This anonymous comment was left under my Alcee Hastings article announcement, but it more appropriately belongs on topic:
Meanwhile, another more prominent congresscritter from Ohio is to be posthumously honored via taxpayer funding.
I am awaiting the attacks from the 'USA-USA-USA cheering section' for unceremoniously unmasking his 'hero' status in the local fishwrap:
Organizers to request Ohio state funds for John Glenn statue
Why not take an honest look at someone before canonizing them?
John Glenn sullied whatever honor he possessed when he sought political power as a United States Senator and subsequently proceeded to disregard the limitations of the Constitution.
Upon his election-totally based on his astronaut celebrity status-he freely took the oath to support and defend the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights required to assume office.
He then performed in a manner that indicated his dismissal and disregard for that oath...
On July 16, 1996, the Senate Committee on Governmental affairs held hearings considering a bill to require Congress to specify for each new law which section of the Constitution gives it authority to pass the law.
What could be more reasonable, and not at all a hindrance to legislating under the terms of the Constitution?
United States Senator John Glenn spoke out strongly against this requirement:
"Americans just want us to... not be concernedif they can be constitutionally justified...
Why, if we had to do that we could not passmost of the laws we enact around here."http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/John.Glenn.Quote.7188
That quote is simply astonishing in that Glenn admits that the majority of laws legislated by Congress fail to meet the requirements of the Constitution!
Distilled to purity, Glenn's attitude appears to have been that expedience is all that matters and that Congress may legislate anything without any practical limitations (which is apparently what Congress has been doing for decades).
And so, obviously Glenn *knowingly* crapped all over the Bill of Rights and Constitution, and his oath to same as well.
Apparently Glenn never had much-or maybe no-exposure to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the principals of America's founding document-the Declaration of Independence...except for when he was required -several times- to swear an oath to be true to the Constitution.
Oaths that appear to have been willingly given falsely...and deliberately...
Prime proof of this is as Senator, Glenn never missed an opportunity to vote in favor of so-called gun control, despite the 2nd Amendment's command that that right not be infringed.
This country will not survive abandonment of Founding principals by both the political class and the rabble that are tasked with selecting those that rule over us.
John Glenn may indeed be worthy of hero status based on his military aeronautical accomplishments alone, but his subsequent lack of fidelity to a Republic governed in accord to the Constitution should leave no doubt that hero is an undeserved honor.
Not a single penny of taxpayer cash should be frittered away on a monument to honor John Glenn, as the John Glenn Post Office in Glenn’s birthplace of Cambridge, Ohio, is more than sufficient, given Glenn's true character.
We're in the age of fakeness...
Fake news...
Fake heroes...
Fake truth...
Fake integrity...
Fake fidelity to America's founding documents...
Being a stickler for these sorts of things, I tried to track down the Glenn quote and found this:
On July 16, 1996, the Senate Committee on Governmental affairs held hearings considering a bill to require Congress to specify for each new law which section of the Constitution gives it authority to pass the law. Sen. Glenn spoke out strongly against this requirement stating, "Why, if we had to do that we could not pass most of the laws we enact around here." He stated that the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and others could never have been passed if Congress had to find authority for them in the Constitution. He declared, "Americans just want us to solve America's problems of health and safety--and not be concerned if they can be constitutionally justified."
If anyone can link this to an official record, please do.
UPDATE: Seeing as how Glenn played a critical role in torpedoing Gals in Space, maybe we can get "progressive feminists" to do the heavy lifting for us. (And incidentally, his reasoning at the time was correct, but VLLA SELLA 'n all...)
Maybe a #Mercury13 hashtag would be useful...

Gee, I wonder what would work better toward public safety: This law or this one?
If the Shoe Fits
But let’s not kid ourselves. We all know what he was saying. In so many words, the president basically just shouted “Whore!” at a U.S. senator. [More]Welcome to the party, pal!
If only that's what he said. Funny Waldman didn't have a fake public meltdown when Trump said worse about Mitt Romney.
Then again, look who we're talking about.
No One Ever Drowned in Roy Moore's Car
It is what it is, isn't it? [More]
I guess the establishment Republicans got their wish and we're another seat closer to Democrats controlling Supreme Court picks. And I guess the fake Faux News poll had its desired effect.
The Dead Elephants could have had the seat and could have then done their Senate inquiry and grilled Moore under oath. If it turned out he had to go, the governor would have appointed another Republican.
It's predictable watching everyone who fears what he represents now ridiculing Steve Bannon as a spent and obsolete force. That his guy did as well as he did, all things considered, tells me otherwise. Not every candidate he backs will carry Moore's baggage.
The big lesson to take away from yesterday's special election:
"38 percent of the state’s registered voters" bothered to turn out.
