Mark Twain advised us to not argue with fools. He actually had two outstanding reasons.
1. After a while, it becomes difficult for bystanders to remember which of you was the original fool.
2. Fools have more experience operating at a certain level of foolishness. They will drag you down to where they are comfortable and beat you senseless due to their greater experience.
