If It Ain't Broke

The Danish have a proverb: “Both painters and lawyers can change white to black.” There is nothing you can put down on paper that some politician cannot “interpret” into meaninglessness, or into its exact opposite. This is why the entire concept of a constitutional republic is, at its basis, a well-meaning failed experiment. Ultimately, nothing defends rights except force and the will to use it.
