We're the Only Ones Teaching Enough

The teacher was identified as Dennis Alexander, a reserve police officer for the Sand City Police Department and a Seaside councilman. Alexander was teaching a gun safety course as part of his administration of justice class when he fired a single shot from a semi-automatic handgun into the ceiling ... Three students were injured, including a 17-year-old boy who was hit in the neck by debris or a fragment after the bullet ricocheted off the ceiling... [More]
Way to go, Lee Paige Award finalist. But notice how many headlines simply identify the negligent f*** as a "teacher," bolstering the armed "Only Ones" good / armed teachers bad notion.  So how convenient the story also mentions:
The shooting occurs amid intense debate over whether to arm teachers in the wake of the Parkland, Fla. shooting...
Where is he politically? Information takes time to dig, so we can look at the company he's been known to keep.  I did find out he was a Peace Corps volunteer, which suggests "progressive" sympathies. I further found he teamed up with other collectivists to end Prop 13 corporate property tax exemptions to redistribute the wealth they create to public schools, and that group endorsed a host of anti-gun Democrats, publicizes "Resistagrams," endorsed California's Disarmageddon, and now calls for nationwide citizen disarmament in the wake of Parkland.

He also had the endorsement of the Central Coast Labor Council, which features praise for Hillary and condemnation for Trump on its website.

Pardon me if I smell something other than an "accident" -- something that went wrong with unintended collateral damage. It seems to me an in-depth and transparent investigation is in order.

UPDATE: Yeah, the gun-grabbers are exploiting this alright. I guess that means "progressive" cops should not be armed...?  These people are such shameless liars.

  1. Given the misapprehension that many low-information citizens maintain that guns are for the “administration of justice” and not for the officer’s self-defense (which is of course why “only the police should have guns,”) I’m decidedly uncomfortable with the whole context of the course as reported.

  2. Every news headline avoids the fact that he is a police officer and firmly states that he was 'a trained teacher'. This is being used to not allow teachers to have the right to self defense in schools.

  3. What a brilliant "Lee Paige" reference!

I wonder if he will be disciplined?
