Thanks to You It Works

The introduced bill was an improvement over the initial proposal that was revealed to the media over a month ago, but it was still unacceptable and we opposed it. However, because your activism generated almost 37,000 emails to the Legislature, an 82 page strike-everything amendment, that completely replaced the original bill and corrected most of the issues, was offered and adopted at the committee hearing. Seeing what participation can yield, it's a reason I get disgusted with do-nothing profiles-in-apathy bloviators.

So why isn't the number 370,000 or more?

CDT notes via email:
This is how a gun-rights organization SHOULD work.  No namby-pamby, no compromise, no surrender.

AzCDL worked like hell, orchestrated *37,000* emails to legislators and the governor in the space of three weeks, and managed to get an absolute stinker of a bill de-fanged to the point where they could say they were now NEUTRAL on it.

I certainly can't remember the last time the NRA was anywhere NEAR that effective.

Oh yeah, I should add that they also managed to block any interference from NRA carpetbaggers flying into the state to compromise our rights away FOR us.  That's double-plus good.

  1. I moved into a new house, wife had baby number three, and still found time to participate with AZCDL in a small fashion like this. Planning to do more too.

I've never heard the Antis complain about our sides LACK of motivation.

  2. I am not sure how AzCDL alone "orchestrated" all 37,000 emails. There were other groups alerting their members to pound both the Governor, then the legislature after the bill was introduced.

Don't tell me AzCDL is getting like the NRA, taking credit for all good work by others and denying any involvement when things don't go so good.

  3. That 37,000 is a very real number. It's the result of three email alerts to ONLY AzCDL's 25,000+ email list asking AzCDL members and email subscribers to contact their legislators on Ducey's "school safety" proposal using our Legislative Action Center(https://cqrcengage.com/azcdl/). The total number of emails sent to legislators from AzCDL's Legislative Action Center was almost 37,000 and those emails could ONLY be sent from our Legislative Action Center. You can apologize to me directly at treasurer@azcdl.org. Thanks :-) Fred - the guy that sends out AzCDL email alerts.
