Cody Wilson, a leading proponent of 3-D printed guns, has been arrested in Taiwan after being charged in Texas with sexually assaulting a 16-year old girl there, Taiwanese officials said on Friday. [More]What I don't see is the Taiwanese charge -- since there's "no extradition treaty in force" and he's been "delivered ... to the National Immigration Agency," will they deport him on a rescinded visa rap or what?

UPDATE (Translated from Chinese):
The Immigration Department pointed out that the American 3D printing gun godfather Wilson, who is suspected of sexually assaulting a girl, has been deregistered from the United States because of his passport has been cancelled. The police can arrest and send it to the police. The Immigration Department will temporarily hold the lien, which will be handled in accordance with the bilateral consultation mechanism and China's decree. Will be deported and will be taken over by the United States.UPDATE:
Cody Wilson, 3D printed-gun designer, jailed in Houston on sex assault charge following arrest
“a real estate agent alerted police in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei that Wilson had signed a six-month lease for a studio after seeing news reports that the 30-year-old was wanted for sexual assault in Texas.”
ReplyDeleteWow.
WHAT are the chances of that?
A Taiwanese real estate agent, who apparently watches US news reports religiously, and has absolutely no connection with the CIA, pegs Wilson IMMEDIATELY — not six months from now, but before the ink is even dry on his wanted posters.
Nobody in America has apparently even encountered Lon Horiuchi in the past 26 years. Compare and contrast.
Yeah this entire situation STINKS of a set up. But ultimately, Cody absolutely screwed this up with this actions.
ReplyDeleteBut that said... the question we have to ask now is how do we move forward? What will this do his case against those 21 AGs? This won't just automatically severe his settlement with he DOJ, but what will this do for his suit involving those 21 totalitarian pricks? Is he the only person named in that suit, or his organization? If that's the case, can it be continued under someone else's leadership while he's fighting to defend himself against this sex assault charge?
And as a bit of a further note, I'm still waiting to see the new federal guidelines on sharing of data on home produced weapons. When DD won that settlement the DOJ said they were going to write new guidelines on what can be shared. But I never saw those regulations posted anywhere. To be honest I've thought about working on some of my own projects and distributing e-books and videos on how to make them. Although I have no real intention of going with a 3D printer. But the regs for sharing those should be the same as with what Cody was going to release. But I can't exactly do that 'legally' unless the DOJ can finally get around to giving the guidelines so I can operate within the law.
'Cancelled'passport? WTF?
ReplyDeleteWonder if he will sell his patents and company to the .gov in exchange for dismissal or sentence reduction?
ReplyDeleteYou think he will become a little less strident media presence?
This is all too perfect
