    I believe this belongs here:

    It's not a question of if but when. If we aren't hit by a high altitude nuke EMP then sooner or later our benevolent sun will nail us with a massive solar storm event. The difference being a solar event would be far more widespread than a "line of sight" man-made event. Either way our infrastructure is woefully inadequate and unprepared for such an event. on Messing with the Wrong People
