It's easy to rationalize yourself out of that one. In the beginning, she didn't notice the man until he was pointing a gun at her son's face. Too late to act. Try having better situational awareness next time, lady.
Later, he's pointing a gun at the pharmacist's face. If the pharmacist didn't care enough to protect himself, why should she?
If he turned the gun on her and her son again after robbing the pharmacist, or if he shot the pharmacist, there's no excuse at that point if she still isn't ready to act. Might as well keep her gun in a safe at home.
