Repurposing Traditions

NASCAR Rejects Gun Ads, Cites “Gradual Shift” on Guns Joins Yeti, Dick’s, UnderArmour [More]
It's been happening for some time.

The grabbers are taking over country music, too.

The sad truth is, most Americans will deserve what they're allowing to take over.  It's not so much blaming the victim as noting the historic reality that useful idiots one day become useless eaters.

And you know what? Some victims deserve to be blamed.

  1. Sadly, we needed to read this.

    Situational Awareness.

The enemy insinuates itself then takes over.

  2. At times like this, as we watch another outpost of freedom fall, it is difficult not to become despondent. My best friend's dad was a very talented mechanic that was often in the pits at USAC, NASCAR, and the various "pirate" tracks that dotted the South. My friend's favorite movie, filmed in his home turf in and around Danville and Herrodsburg, KY was the classic "Thunder Road" about moonshine running in the 40's.

We went to Daytona twice a year for the 500 in February and the Firecracker 400 in July. The sound of 40 Grand National cars coming around turn one on the first pace lap is one that cannot be described or experienced through a TV. You feel it in your bones and think it is the most awesome thing ever. That is, until the green flag drops, the rumble turns into a roar several times as loud, and you realize they had all been at a fast idle.

It saddens me to think that I will never experience that again.

But NASCAR is now on my "verboten" list, along with Smith & Wesson, the NFL, several of the 50 states, Dick's Sporting Goods, and a sadly growing list of others.

    Goodbye, NASCAR!
