I’ve had to call 911 once in my life, when I had a rental house in the process of burning down. I was treated to a long, frustrating canned CYA recording explaining when I should or should not be calling 911, that my call was valuable, and eventually someone woulc answer it.
Then I was treated to the same long, frustrating recording… in Spanish.
Then — and I kid you not — I was treated to the same long, frustrating recording AGAIN in TTY tones for the deaf!
By the time the recordings had finished, I had already driven myself to the closest fire station and made my report in person. No actual person ever did answer at 911.
