What difference does it make if a Democrat wins? The Republicans need to learn they won't get their other issues advanced if their agents throw gun owners under the bus, and until they offer someone who will show suitable fidelity -- whether out of principle or fear, they can just feel our pain.

ReplyDeletePick any age out of your hat and you will find people below the age that are more mature than the average and people above the age that are less. Arbitrary age limits are just that: arbitrary. One does not deny constitutionally protected civil rights based on arbitrary criteria. At least one does not in any area where the courts are doing their job. As Associate Justice Scalia said, the Second Amendment is no different. It is past time for SCOTUS to follow through on Heller and McDonald and set firm criteria on what level of scrutiny lower courts are to use in Second Amendment cases, and/or give some logical reason why Strict Scrutiny is applied in all other Bill of Rights cases but not where the Second Amendment is concerned or attempt to put forth some rational basis why one Amendment, supposedly just like any other, is treated as a special case.
