I have told several anti-gun types that firearms are 19th century technology, and any person with determination and modest shop equipment can build them. After all, in Pakistan AKs are made in shops with hand tools and no electricity. As for powder, the black type was successfully produced in ancient China and medieval Europe. Smokeless takes a bit more knowledge, but the WW2 Filipino guerillas created substitutes that worked in M1 rifles. The Japanese soldiers they killed couldn't tell the difference between homemade and factory made powder.
The next easiest improvised firearm up from a zip gun is the open bolt SMG. So, just imagine that people who are actually knowledgeable about guns and how to make them decide to pursue this low tech answer to tyranny. _revjen45
