Arrest warrant issued for woman who lied on red flag filing in Larimer County [More]Good. It's past time the message was driven home loud and clear to family survivors that we can sympathize with their agony, but that does not give them license to then bend us to their will under force of government arms.
This is a nothingburger, David.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, her target was an active cop. You and I will NOT get the same deference he got, in terms of seeing the perjurer prosecuted.
Second, her claim was so false as to be ridiculous on its face — she claimed that the shooting officer was the father of her kid, the kid that he shot. Most red-flag perjury is going to take the form of unfalsifiable he-said-she-said claims, or even he-or-she-felt-threatened claims, against which perjury law will be unenforceble.
This case does us an egregious misservice, by allowing red-flag prononents to claim “See? The system works,” before proceeding to rape us all of our Second Amendment rights for the foreseeable future.
