Whoa here, I remember that after the very last civil war veteran died, Congress quietly passed legislation that all civil war veterans were American veterans. Taking down a veteran's memorial is a federal offence. Who do we need to contact? Pretty sure I'm correct on this David, what do I need to do?
Per Politifact, again, not my favorite resource due to political bias:
"Miller’s statement focuses on two pieces of legislation approved by Congress long after the end of the Civil War. One required the federal government to place headstones or markers on the graves of Confederate soldiers. The other allowed veterans and their widows to collect a federal pension."
Erasing the past is easy. Fixing the present is beyond him.

ReplyDeleteTake Snopes for what it's worth but they say that's "mostly false."
