When Put in Perspective

But in nearly all states, you can't generally use deadly force merely to defend your property.  [More]
That's too bad because acquiring property requires time out of my life I could be doing something else, so if some sociopathic reptile destroys something it took a lifetime to build, they have robbed me of more than just "things."

  1. Perhaps that John Adams quote more properly belongs here:

'The moment the idea is admitted into society, that property is not as sacred as the law of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If “Thou shall not covet,” and “Thou shall not steal,” are not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society, before it can be civilized or made free.' - John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of Government (1787)
