I once had a manager tell me "That's a production problem, I'm in sales." before walking away from me and our company's problem.
While it is true that the elected officials mentioned in the story are in charge of considering and sometimes passing laws, you would think they would give some thought to what happens next. True. they're in charge of passing laws. Enforcing the is a job for (wait for it) law enforcement.
But what happens if the people of Richmond, or for that matter, the State of Virginia choose to ignore the law? Surely those who pass such laws understand there are not enough law enforcement officers in the state to enforce it if the people, or a significant minority of them, choose to reject it outright.
Mike used to say that while the Constitution served to protect us from them, it also serves to protect them from us.
The folks passing laws in Richmond need to consider what's going on in Portland and realize just how close they are to a similar situation. One would think that last year's turnout would have gotten their attention.
