We're the Only Ones Rights-Defining Enough

A campus police officer told him that he could distribute literature and have one-on-one conversations. But public speaking in a free speech zone, the officer said, amounted to disorderly conduct. [More]

Because who better to define our rights for us than a campus cop?

If "Republican" Chris Carr wants to hear real "fighting words," he's on the right track. And it will tell us much if SCOTUS decides "moot" is relative to the Amendment being argued.

  1. As recently as the 1990s when I attended a police academy in SoCal we were called Peace Officers and taught that our number one job was to protect the constitutional rights of every person with whom we came into contact. Nowadays they are called Law Enforcement Officers and told their most important job is to go home safely at the end of the shift. A sad change indeed.
