I Wonder Who They're Talking About

That's some serious cancel culturing Nancy, Chuck and Jomala have got planned...

UPDATE: Mack H sends the DHS Threat Assessment report from when the "Beautiful Second Amendment President" was still sitting where the buck stops. I remember commenting on it when it was still a draft.

"shot across the bow -- If you describe someone's actions as a shot across the bows of another person, you mean that it is a warning to that person to stop or change what they are doing.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warning_shot

warning shot -- A warning shot is a military and/or police term describing an intentionally harmless artillery shot or gunshot with intent to enact direct compliance and order to a hostile perpetrator or enemy forces. It is recognized as signalling intended confrontations on land, sea, and air.

As an analogy, "warning shot" can be said of any action of declaration, especially a demonstration of power, intended or perceived as a last warning before hostile measures.

pour encourager les autres -- in order to encourage the others — said ironically of an action (such as an execution) carried out as a warning to others

I see this as a positive, all things considered. Prior to the storming of the Capitol Building, there was apparently a feeling on the left that those on the right could be pushed with impunity and without regard to the possibility of any push back. Now they know differently. Whether they will take the warning to heart, or ignore it and continue pushing remains to be seen. One can only guess if we would be discussing this at all if Mike had managed to finish and publish "Absolved".
