‘Doing Something’ to Gun-Grabbers Means Mandated Helplessness

Professional bleaters demand making throat-baring mandatory.

Point/Counterpoint

Sherrod Brown was automatically included with my Republican senator and representative the last time GOA asked me to respond to one of their alerts, once again proving my longstanding contention that gun groups shouldn't waste our time asking us to write to the enemy:

I'll give him this much: At least he responded. Portman and Joyce must be busy with weasel lessons.

Raining on the Parade

The march called for November 20 sets a dangerous precedent for scheduled parades, distorts that date and dilutes the spirit of those protests through an intellectual-left-social-democratic turn. The Cuban must take the streets, not beg for routes. And it has to do so not under the umbrella of dialogue and the complicity that emanates from these collaborations, but under the conviction of not recognizing the authority from which permission is being asked today.  [More]

Sounds like the whole thing is a setup by regime supporters to put a kinder, gentler face on tyrants.

Begging for Mercy -- Or at Least Understanding

I currently have dozens of email tips in a larger queue that go to videos. It would literally take me over two hours to watch just what's in the lineup now, and I do need to watch them  -- to make sure they're not duplicating something I've already covered, to see if I agree with the presenter's conclusions, to see if I can find a more informative and authoritative source, and just to understand what I'm being asked to pass along to others. That's time I just don't have. It's afternoon already and I'm still just getting to opening stuff that came in yesterday.

Add to that, as long as I'm venting, many of them take forever to get to the point, plus I'm a big believer in driving traffic to the original source when I can, as opposed to someone riffing off of someone else's work. And the sad reality is, not all of us have effective telepresence. Sorry, but I don't do videos for a reason.

Links to tangentially relevant stories I can handle. Most of those I can absorb, process, and react to in the time it takes me to watch a video.

Please understand if I can't get to something you sent me. It doesn't mean I'm an unappreciative bastard.

The One-Two Punch

In a letter sent Wednesday, National School Boards Association President Viola Garcia and Interim Executive Director and CEO Chip Slaven appeal directly to President Joe Biden, asking him to step in amid rising threats to school officials due to the right-wing furor surrounding mask mandates and critical race theory. “As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” the letter says. The Heart of the Matter

Why gun owners need a change of heart ... Why can’t those who own guns and know the most about them take responsibility for ensuring they're used safely and without malicious intent? [More]

We do. The 5M or so members of the NRA and other national and state groups are the most heavily armed yet peaceable population on the planet. We're also the ones who provide real safety training, as opposed to torturing the meaning of the word to stump for ignorance, avoidance, hostility, and bans.

But Fudd, here, knows that. He is really saying we should assume responsibility for abuses committed by the products of a Democrat agenda he agrees with.

And here's the tip-off:

The Constitution gives us the right to “bear arms,” not the right to use any and all kinds of weaponry that might ever be devised by ingenious armament manufacturers.

That along with "The National Rifle Association used to be..." talking point straight out of the gun-grabber playbook...

The Constitution "gives" no rights. The Founders recognized the people having "every terrible implement of the soldier" was their "birthright," and the NRA was founded by generals who wanted Americans skilled in the use of "weapons of war."

‘Gun Sense’ Approved Politician Jewell Jones Could Become ‘Prohibited Person’

It’s fair to ask what a gun-grabber is doing with a gun in the first place, since the groups that endorse him say having a gun on your person or in the home is more dangerous than being unarmed. Then again, “guns for thee and not for me” is the very definition of a violence monopolist. [More]
