Where Federal, state, and local laws come into conflict the Federal law does take precedence. Federal law enforcement is free to enforce Federal law but state and local law enforcement is under no obligation to help them.
ReplyDeleteOne area that remains rather "squishy" as far as I know is what happens when a Federal law enforcement agent violates state law while in the performance of their duties. One such example is here:
