When the rules of a democracy are changed in such a way that the rank and file participants no longer get a meaningful vote, it is no longer a democracy. It has become something else. But that doesn't mean the rank and file no longer have a say in how things sort themselves out. They just have to adopt an alternative to the peaceful expression of choice at a ballot box.
