This publication bothers me. NRA has always been straightforward with this statistic. When I started teaching 35 years ago, the number of accidental deaths was around 1,100. A decade later it had dropped to 800. And that is the way they reported it, even in the student manuals. I defy you to find an actual number of accidental deaths in this year's report. "1/8 of the drowning deaths" just begs the question harder. At least you can derive actual numbers from the accident table; not so the fatal accident table.
