In my previous state, I had a pro-2A rep who was nice enough to "throw us a bone" (that none of us asked for) and file a bill to make gun safes, gun cabinets, and lockboxes tax-free. He was blindsided by a totally predictable safe-storage amendment from the opposition, who pontificated, "If we're going to give [sic] them these things tax-free, we have a right to make sure they use them." He ended up costing us a fight that we had successfully fought for two years, over a bennie we didn't even ask for.
