I spent a few days on business in Manchester and other areas of England (about 2 years ago), riding shotgun with a native that drove us around to the client's offices. I couldn't get over the number of speed surveillance cameras everywhere. When I asked about speeding he told me the fines were steep and if I remember correctly, after your 4th violation, you can kiss your driver's license good-bye.
Looks like big brother in Chicago is heading down the same path...
Uk driving licences have an "allowance" of 12 points. Each time a person gets caught speeding they lose 3 points in addition to whatever fine is imposed. After a year or two you get the points back but if you lose all 12 then you lose your driving licence.
"Mistaking" a speed gun for an Uzi is the lamest excuse for speeding I've ever heard.
