A Circuit Court judge pulled a handgun in his courtroom after a man jumped a railing and punched a handcuffed defendant accused of molesting his son...
Duval County Public Defender Bill White questioned the safety of allowing judges to carry guns. He said he plans to talk to the chief judge about disarming the judges.
It's tough taking a side on this one. Yeah, I don't want judges to be "Only Ones." By the same token, the thought of indignant Billy boy here soiling himself and trying to strip an elite of power is kind of satisfying.
[Judge] Merrett, who has a license to carry a concealed weapon, committed no crime, State Attorney Harry Shorstein said.
ReplyDeleteGood thing this happened in Florida instead of Illinois, or that judge would be sitting in the slammer.
No he wouldn't, Anonymous. He's a judge. You know, one of the elite. He's above anything as trivial as a gun ban.

ReplyDeleteI want to see him disarmed in the courtroom, unless State Attorney Harry Shorstein holds the same opinion of ordinary citizens being armed in the courtroom and will not allow any prosecution of those who do. Otherwise take his gun, what the fuck is so special about a man that carries a gun under his dress when he knows nobody else is allowed to have one? BFD.
There is NO reason for judges to be arm'd. citizens pay a hefty tax to provide for court balifs, and Sheriffs Deputies. The handcuffed defendant, most likely was being escorted by an armed deputy. I've never seen a court that handled felony cases where there was not a number of leos present.
