A Sneaking Suspicion

"I have a feeling that the Department of Public Safety is using the process as a filter to keep people from even having a gun," said Freeman, 60, who moved to Texas from Arizona last year.
Could be. Or it could just be another typical government Orwellism--with the Department of Public Safety rendering the public less safe.

  1. Whenever I read something like this I once again thank Ghu for David Gross and Joe Olson who (mainly) wrote our 'shall-issue' law in MN. By law here in the People's Republic of Ten Thousand Lakes if the issuing authority (usually the sheriff) does not deny your application within 30 days, then you are automatically presumed to be approved, and your dated receipt becomes your permit to carry.

Oh, and if they deny it and you appeal and win, the issuing authority has to pay your court costs.
