Smokey Mountain Traders Update

I went in and spoke with the owner today...

I asked about what I read in the news and he informed me that it was the regular ATF visit and they found a form that didn't have Male/Female box checked and they told him "We can shut you down for this". From what I could tell, he was tired of the ATF's strong arm tactics and abuses. He said he decided to quit selling firearms, so he gave them the license.
We talked about this here.

Harass dealers out of existence with bureaucratic nitpicking. Do it to everybody. I guess this is what "Maximum Mike" meant by "apply[ing] the rules more uniformly."

  1. An unchecked box. I bet the purchaser's name was something like Richard or William or Charles, not Tracy or Blair or Aubrey. Even an IDIOT...
But maybe ATF agents can only ASPIRE to someday work their way UP to idiot.
    Tick tock.

  2. Is it time yet for phone trees? The civil rights movement and the PTA have had great success with them. What if 20 or 50 customers and their families showed up and sort of surrounded the agents' car, you know, just standing around in the parking lot shooting the breeze, catching up on the latest unconstitutional acts by the feds despite our emails to the Solicitor General of the Justice Department, all our Congressthings, our sheriffs, our mayors, the president...
"Oh, did you want to go somewhere, buddy? Just a few, we're almost done here." [crickets chirping]
Would that be "obstructing a government employee in the performance of his duties"?
    I think not.
Remember the guy in Tiananmen Square who delayed a column of tanks ... all by himself.

  3. that's the same reason that several of the Akron areas shops closed. They were just fed up and knew it was only a matter of time before they made a mistake and were forced to shut down.

A pity because they had good prices for this area.

  4. Huge mistake to turn in their license. The stats don't show harassment if a dealer tuns in their license. So ATF looks good by the numbers in front of congress. Dealers must refuse to turn in their license and force ATF to take the license. Be nice just allow them to take the license. The dealer needs to take it to appeal to the ATF kangaroo court and be refused at that level. This will show what is going on far better then tucking tail and just handing back the license.

  5. When they close shop, ATF gets all their Form 4473s. Registration one way or ... every way they can come up with.
