We're the Only Ones Taking a Spin in the Park Enough

Stealing a scene from a hit movie, two Brooklyn cops used their patrol car to "do doughnuts" in a Bay Ridge park, a woman who witnessed the crazy stunt said Monday.

The cigar-chomping officers tore through a baseball field at Shore Road Park in Bay Ridge, spinning the car wildly in circles and almost hitting a pair of kids on tricycles...

"I was shocked - it was startling," Hagan said. "The police car came within inches of killing two little children."

At least they were doing them instead of eating them.

Also, I thought Bloomberg was, among other things, a tobacco-Nazi. I can't believe New York "Only Ones" are allowed to smoke in city cars.

  1. "At least they were doing them instead of eating them" I thought you were speaking of children at first, instead of donuts. Gave it a whole new "spin".

  2. In a city of 6 million with 30,000 cops, you're going to have a few HUNDRED officers who are "bad apples," plus about one percent total apesh-- psychos.
The psychos are finding out that consequences are few and long a-coming. So why not?
Are those doughnuts trans-fat-free? It's THE LAW.
I read that Alabama is going to charge obese state workers who don't try to lose weight. Something else to thank Mayor Mikey for. You DON'T own yourself; the STATE does.

  3. So what if those were your kids? Well, if they were my kids, and that wasn't a COP car, I know for sure, I'd do some yelling and maybe something more. What do you suppose would happen to the guy who would dare scream at them, call them out for the jackasses they are and demand their badge numbers and supervisor's name? Taser? Pepper spray? Pinata treatment with the batons? Or maybe they'd just draw down and drill you, claiming you "went for your waistband."

That we allow this sort of thing to continue is the root of the entire problem...but consider the consequences posed above as to why no one is willing to stand up and call a thug a thug. I'm genuinely curious...what would you do? Nothing enrages me more than mindless idiots (especially in cars) that pose a threat to my kids. So I think I can honestly say I'd at least do a little yelling, maybe while my wife dialed 911 to inform them what's going on, and to establish some sort of record.

  5. Because they are the ones who enforce the law, they are above the law. If the cops are the lawbreakers, no matter what ruling comes down on them, there is no one else to enforce them against the cops, and THEY sure as hell won't enforce it on themselves.

  6. In a neighboring city, a police officer pulled a car over because the registration wasn't in order. There's no mention of why he was checking the registration, like a traffic violation or suspicious behavior. So this 17-year-old pulls over, bails and runs and the cop chases him and loses sight of him. When he catches up to him, he orders him to stop and keep his hands in sight. the boy turns to face him and "lowers his hands out of the officer's field of vision," so the cop shoots him. No violation.
The attitude seems to be "If there's a problem, it's YOUR fault, and if there isn't a problem, I'll create one, which will also be YOUR fault."
Far as I'm concerned, running from the cops when you know you've done nothing isn't stupid, it's a survival tactic.
They made me this way. They can stop any time.
The ultimate bad cop, Bill Clinton, got minutes of standing ovation at the convention tonight. He who went golfing for a week's vacation the week following Waco, and was welcomed with signs saying "We love you, Bill."
And Janet Reno ran for governor of Florida, and got lots of votes.
Have no illusions about the American people. A short temper and a short memory. And an unnerving tendency to trust people in high places.

  8. I'm a total maniac when it comes to my kids, so...what Straightarrow said goes for me too.
