What Not Listening to Authorities Gets You

Cops say one of the abductors in the back seat temporarily put down his gun so he could send a text message on his cell phone. Without hesitating, the victim picked up the loaded weapon, shot the man next to him and then fired a series of rounds at the other abductor in the front seat.
Why should it not surprise us that Chicago proposes doing exactly the opposite as a means to deter violent crime?

  1. A gun is not a magic talisman, it is a tool.
Sounds like the kidnapped man is not a member of the gun culture but did admirably anyway. If he had been, there'd be no uninjured suspect, just three guys with a minimum of two holes each. Much earlier, too.
    I love a happy ending.
You know the goblins will kidnap you just to have your bank card and code number, and leave you for buzzard bait in a field somewhere, right?
No mercy is called for, then. I might go to jail, but they'd go to the cemetery.

  2. Hmmm.....shooting the driver of a moving car that you're a passenger in.

Sounds to me like somebody needs to rethink his "gun culture" strategy.

I think the victim performed about as close to perfection as you could possibly want. :D

  3. I don't believe he shot the driver, lawhobbit, but he did threaten him. That was apparently enough to get the driver to stop. What if the driver hit the gas to call the victim's bluff, as it were? Well, the victim (warrior?) could wait 'til the car ran out of gas, and both would survive, or if the bad guy crashes, he takes himself out, too. I'm pretty sure these bad guys knew in their hearts of hearts that they were lookiing at eternity in Hell if they died, so the driver stopped.
