A man caught on camera shocking a 15-year-old boy with a taser, just for fun, was a Eustis police officer and he did it after a night of drinking with kids...Yep, it sure looks like this moron is the "Only One" with the mature and sober judgment needed to be trusted with weapons forbidden to you or me (post '86 LEO Only), and in places where you or I (school zones, bars) would not be.
"You're gonna get five seconds. You will have two marks. These will be signature marks," Nesmith tells the 15-year-old on home video showing the incident.
Hey, now that the video has been released, maybe he can sue for humiliation...
I can see how the kid and the mom say they think the punishment is too hard seeing as the kid wanted to be tased. However, poor decision making tends to be a reoccurring event, and in the future that poor decision making could get somebody hurt or worse. The fact that he was having a party with 15 year olds drinking only compounds the poor decision making. I applaud the officer for admitting wrong, and I also applaud the police chief for demonstrating that police officers are supposed to be upstanding members of society that serve and protect their neighbors and as such are held to higher standards than the general public not lower standards. I would be willing to bet money that there are no unions for police in FL (or at least this part of FL) otherwise we'd be reading about how his union would be protesting the 'excessive' punishment, and instead arguing that he should get a promotion and an award.
