Accomplishment
This really does say all you need to know about Obama's supporters and followers.
Kirk Watson, your phoniness is showing...
Shakedown Al
Anheuser-Busch gave him six figures, Colgate-Palmolive shelled out $50,000 and Macy's and Pfizer have contributed thousands to the Rev. Al Sharpton's charity.Cowards.
I wonder what would happen if he pulled this crap on Ronnie Barrett?
Tasting Temptation With James Carroll
Long before I tasted the temptations of sex, I yielded to an irresistible prurience by opening that drawer. Initiation into obscenity. Because primal disobedience is so defining, I found a sense of independent selfhood in relationship to a gun. Only later would I realize how very American that makes me.No James. It makes you a fetishist. It makes you a pervert.
Do us all a favor--keep it to yourself--we really don't want to know.
I thought keeping government out of peoples' sex lives was a priority. Would you please return the courtesy and keep your infantile sexual deviancy out of my government?
And funny how James rationalizes this one:
Americans should have more shame, not less. A gun is no iPod. Shame is the children's last protection. What the hell would a "man" who publicly wrote what you just did know about shame? And stay the hell away from my children.
Good grief, where do the antis come up with these misfit losers?
Canada Redefines "Spate"
One...I thought you had to have at least three...
I guess they have more stringent requirements there, designed to keep stuff like this from happening.
A Salutary Effect
[I]t can be sustained that it will have a "salutary effect in checking tong wars among the Chinese and vendettas among our people who are of Latin descent."Just in case it's still not clear how this stuff started... and why.

All for One Low Price of $29.95!
A government study found that a used .50 caliber BMG sniper rifle can be purchased online for just $29.95And if you act now, we'll throw in the steak knives...
The Armed Canadian makes the case that the antis were wringing their panties over a parody ad.
If so, I'm PO'd, because I'd like equal hysteria over the LSAS ad we posted on GunTruths, lo, those many years ago...
Jesse "The Noisemaker" Jackson Leads Another Non-Event
Despite no evidence of legal wrongdoing, the Rev. Jesse Jackson wants a Lake Barrington gun plant shut down.Of course he does.
It's outrageous that the idiot "Authorized Journalists" allow this racist fraud to get away with so many unchallenged lies, but it's obvious they don't have the subject matter competence needed to fairly present this story in the first place.
And Kevin Richardson and "proud gun owner" Robert Abboud are certainly pieces of...work, aren't they?
Another bit of journalistic omission: How many stories mention the number of attendees? From this picture, it looks like about a dozen showed up. Why does that result in such disproportionate coverage? And who these people are as individuals shouldn't be factored into the credibility of what it is they're demanding?
It does appear that at least one official gets it:
In an open letter to the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said this weekend that protesting against a Lake Barrington gun manufacturer would not solve the growing problem of gun violence.[Via Jeffersonian]
In a statement that noted his office spent $5,200 providing security at an August 2007 protest outside D.S. Arms, 27 W. 900 Industrial Ave., Curran suggested it would be more beneficial to find alternative solutions to curb random acts of violence involving guns...
The sheriff told Jackson that children needed to be taught the sanctity of human life, community leaders should examine why young men kill each other and parents should encourage sexual abstinence for kids and young adults.
After the Flood
Strike teams searched flood fringe areas on both sides of the Cedar River on Sunday, finding flooded basements, collapsed walls and piles of debris.Watch the confrontation with the homeowner at 1:58 into the video. The guy is on his porch, and the "Only One" orders him inside.
"I'll make sure you never come back here again" doesn't make sense in conjunction with the hastily added "until this is all over." Did somebody suddenly remember they were being recorded?
In fairness, I did get the following first-person observation:
It is interesting to note the response of Katrina victims that have been taken in by our community to this disaster. Prior to the current events I have met numerous Katrina victims and know that our city, along with many others, took in large numbers of these people, found them shelter, gave them money, etc... While sandbagging at many different locations I was never able to find a single Katrina victim with one exception. While sandbagging at Mercy Hospital we found three of them about a block away, sitting on their porch, watching all the volunteers sandbag. They refused to come and help. Figured being through one disaster like this they would like to help prevent another one and help save the community that took them in in the their time of need. Guess they have just gotten to used to the government and everyone else doing everything for them.So it would be easy to hold out a snapshot of frayed tempers as representative of heavy-handedness. That's not my point.
My point is we should all be involved with our communities and we should have the leadership that involves us. And that includes the sheriff or police chief holding muster and training drills for We the People to act in our capacity as members of the militia.
Still, I can't blame "the authorities" overmuch, because if they did hold a volunteer event, how many of our countrymen do you suppose would show up?

The Kindness of Strangers
A trained nurse, Rachelle Jackson immediately ran toward the sound of the crash. A Chicago police car had collided with another vehicle and was starting to smoke, two officers still inside. Fearing an explosion, she quickly pulled one officer from the passenger side. She never imagined her act of kindness nearly six years ago would land her in jail for more than 10 months on charges that she robbed, battered and disarmed a peace officer.Easily fixed.
They don't want us lifting a finger one way, I guess I won't lift a finger the other way, either. Not if it means putting my freedom at risk.
Too bad. I've generally proven pretty helpful in emergency situations over the years.

The Indignation That Is Gordon T. Davis
A boy with a rifle was shown on the front page of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette on May 24. He was in Worcester South High Community School in front of scores of students. This is a clear violation of the Worcester school policy of no weapons in school of any kind, not even fake or toy weapons. This is a zero-tolerance policy.Y'know what, Gordon T. Davis? You're right.
It may surprise some to find out I agree that ROTC should not have a special policy exemption. I'd like them to eat at the same table as the rest of us.
I'd like to see other kids posing from the rifle team. I'd like to see a teacher/administrator pistol competition. I'd like...
Somehow I don't think this is what ol' hoplophobe Gordo had in mind...
Or, outrageously, Wayne...

This Day in History: June 16
On June 16, 1775 ( at night ) more than 1,000 patriots (rebel fighters), under the command of General Prescott, marched to Breed's Hill over the Charlestown neck and fortified it with trenches, bales of cotton and hay...
