RNC Chair Debate

Click on the title link. Then click that red circle thingy on the right. [More]

I've been talking about this.

And talking.

And talking.

And...

Unfortunately, none of our "gun rights leaders" have been. Anybody hear a peep out of any of the groups that accept donations...? It's basically been a handful of WarOnGuns regulars and a few supportive bloggers...

I haven't had time to watch this yet.

I'm told they exhibited expected arrogance and asked a "How many guns do you own?" question, but haven't confirmed it. Hell, Lon Horiuchi could field that one.

Help me keep an eye on these weasels. The fix is in, or at least is being set up, for Michael Steele, you know, the guy who says society needs to draw a line because we don't need "assault weapons" to hunt with...

UPDATE: Yep--look at 31 minutes and a couple seconds into it. Steele is the only one who said "None," but as we know, mere ownership means nothing. Which is why they intentionally screwed us with this question, when so many thoughtful ones that would actually tell us something were asked.

  1. But he is right. . . We don't need them to hunt game with, we need them to keep our government BY the PEOPLE and FOR the PEOPLE. . .

They just happen to be useful for hunting too. . . .

and target shooting and home defense and. . . . .

  2. David you're right, the fix is in, but it won't matter which it is like it didn't matter whether it was obamination or the mccain. It was sort of funny at first but true that "if voting made any difference it would be illegal". I write letters and try to educate others with no hope of restoring the republic or peaceable change. We witness the final days of the empire.

  3. You will also see that there has been nothing but dead silence among the more "pragmatic" bloggers, you know, the ones who say the "Threepers" are full of it and are itching for the lead to start flying.

  4. There was only one question about guns asked and that was "How Many Guns Do You Own" all responded with beffering numbers but It seems chipSaltsmon had the most, with Ken Blackwell stating he owned 7

  5. David,

Please do an entry on this:

Counting Guns, But Proving Their Mettle?

The six men vying to lead the Republican Party out of the era of a botched war tried today to outgun each other, quite literally, during a 90-minute debate sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform.

  6. I've never once heard a politician speak about the 2nd Amendment in reference to it's clearly-worded, well-documented intent. Nealy always it is referred to then followed by a complete non-sequitor about hunting.
Ignorance of the founding fathers? Or deliberate obfuscation?

  7. David,
Your first two posts today could lead one to think you are beggining to believe you are not doing any thing productive with your efforts. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Some time ago, I stumbled onto WOG. Prior to that I felt I was probably the "ONLY ONE" who felt this country has become a far cry from what it was and was ment to be. Thru your posts and those you have refered me to, I now know I have a family consisting of 3% of the population. We will keep playing this hand we were delt, even tho we know the deck is stacked, but the time is comming when we will call their "all in". Then let the chips fall where they may. There is no stoping it. they have their mandate we have ours. In the mean time THANK YOU! for what you have done for me and doubtless others as well

  8. Thank you Mr. Beaver. I appreciate the kind and supportive words.

I'm going to keep up with this RNC story and do what I can to sideline Steele.

I hope I can count on support from WarOnGuns regulars.

You probably cannot find very many but once upon a time even the democrats understood:

"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms ... The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard, against the tyranny which now appears remote in America but which historically has proven to be always possible."
-- Hubert H. Humphrey, Senator, Vice President, 22 October 1959

You have to wonder: just how remote would he consider it today?

  10. Call it petty, call it hell-raising, call it what you like.

I think we ought to list each and every blogger who has decried David Codrea, Mike Vanderboegh or the notion of armed resistance, and yet did NOTHING, said NOTHING about this topic.

I'd call it a Wall of Shame.
