We're the Only Ones Idiotic Enough

“Who’s responsible for local communities? The local community or Lincoln?’’ said Hastings Police Chief Larry Thoren when told of the legal opinion.

Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang said he believed the city’s ban on concealed weapons may help decrease outbreaks of violence.

He said concealed weapons create “more opportunities for weapons to be placed in bad situations,’’ such as domestic disputes. [More]
Oh, are you assuming responsibility, Larry? As in a duty to protect individuals, with an attendant liability should you fail? And you, Bruce: You're just beyond help.

Where do they find these "Only One" freaks? They're clearly inferior to rational men. Can you imagine asking one of them permission for anything?

UPDATE: Go read this.

No, chief, we can't just "choose to have a different view."

There's nothing "beautiful" about your brand of localized tyranny.

  1. The joke is this parasite would be working in some retail outlet if he didn't have his government job. His words would be, "do you want fries with that burger?"

  3. After Halloween, I bought some props half-price at the party store. Huge chains with manacles you can actually wear on your wrists -- all hollow plastic but they look like they'll restrain Hercules.
I'm ahead of the fashion curve, I'd say.
The only chains I'll ever wear, Larry. If it's CONCEALED, that means no one knows. That means people could be carrying all around you, not causing problems, without your knowledge or consent. Get used to the idea of being ignored, Larry. It's better than the alternative.

  4. How about this: As far as state law preemption of local unconstitutional gun laws: If the state can't tell the CITIES what to do (respect state PERMITS, that is), then the cities can't tell INDIVIDUALS what to do. This is not a debate team argument for points, it's about lives and safety. If the potential VICTIM is so afraid of the cops that he/she leaves protection locked up, seems Mr. Impulse Killer has every advantage, gun or no gun.

  5. How about the cities say its citizens do not have to pay state income tax.

  6. I love Larry's response about how this is a great country because we and he have the right to disagree. Sur, we can disagree verbally all day and into next year. It's only when you LIVE like you have the right to disagree that you get arrested and charged, meaning your life is effectively ruined. But you have the RIGHT to disagree.
All through the 20th Century, Communism promised "from each according to his abilities, to each according to his need." And then they would ASSIGN you your acceptable abilities and DECIDE FOR YOU what you needed. Question that and they would assign you a mass grave.
Larry seems to be research-challenged, like so many anti-gunners. I really don't like that in a public official authorized to use deadly force. Maybe it's just me. Meanwhile the list of people I would hesitate to use my gun to save their sorry authoritarian butts grows. Maybe we could debate the moral and safety issues while they're being gang-raped and recreationally slashed with little bitty knives by the REAL bad guys they seem to have more affection for than they do noncriminal American gun owners. We COULD shoot someone in the heat of the moment, we COULD have a negligent discharge. Once again, criminals don't worry about that stuff. They just ACT. And people die.
Why are WE held to a higher standard than someone with an arrest record that could paper a wall?

  7. You are 100% incorrect.... Omaha does not ban concealed carry! The city council change the city code to take into account LB454 ( concealed carry) this was done agents the mayors wishes, and the will of the people was done. I live in Omaha and several of my fiends have carry licenses.. I will be getting one this year.

Concealed weapons will be legal in Omaha
Omaha is no longer out of step with the state’s new law allowing Nebraskans — with permits — to carry a concealed weapon.

The Omaha City Council on Tuesday repealed that community’s historic ban against carrying a concealed weapon, with a 5-2 veto-proof margin.
