Swanson was terminated Wednesday from the department, teary-eyed Ortega announced during the conference. [More]Yes, I'm sure the chief would be all broken up--and the DA would still be considering charges--if a citizen had thought he was shot, and opened fire into a car full of "Only Ones".

UPDATE: I've gone back in and reworked the link after several complaints--this appears to be one of those stupid newspapers who make it difficult to access their website without registration. I guess their print editions must be doing well enough to chase off web users. Anyway, if you can't get to the story by clicking on the title link, paste http://www.montereyherald.com/local/ci_11755371 into your browser and see if that works. If it doesn't and you still give a damn, I do link to BugMeNot over in the sidebar, but I'm done spending time on this.
Clicking on the link takes one to the following:

Huh.
ReplyDeleteJust tried it and it worked fine.
Anyone else?
I had to google the story to get to it. When I did, I noticed this part of the story:
ReplyDelete"Before he worked in Salinas, Swanson was a police officer in Texas for five years. He spent 14 years in the Marine Corps, including two tours of Iraq, Ortega said."
I'm wondering what he did in Iraq and how that affected his emotional state. Did he work checkpoints?
Try http://www.montereyherald.com/local/ci_11755371
ReplyDeleteYes, I got the invalid cert message several times. Will try the alternate link. Thanks anon...
ReplyDeleteI got the same message. The link provided above worked ok.
ReplyDeleteSo, both of them unloaded their full magazine and failed to hit their (innocent) targets at almost point blank range. Sounds like the chief needs to get some range time in for his boys. Someday they might have a real criminal to shoot at.
