A Dud?

Ya think? [More]

I like the poll at the end of the video--if 2/3 of the New Orleans TV news audience get it...

  1. I remember one buyback in Indy. They showed a guy smiling and unloading some rusted klunkers at what I suspect was a profit lol.

  2. The comment script is broken. Here's what I would've said:

"Michael Jurina said buy-back programs are great for getting guns from well-intentioned people who either want to get rid of a rusty weapon or avoid becoming another statistic."

Tempting people with cash to casually handle a possibly loaded or dangerous firearm? That is a good way to get them in the accidental death column in the next NHS report.

Please folks, stop listening to the gun paranoids, and start listening to experts--like NRA certified instructors. Trust me. You'll live longer.

  3. I noticed the statement, "Steel (or was that steal) for brass".

I wonder how many if any of the surrendered firearms are on the NCIC stolen guns database? And, do the police check the firearms prior to accepting them and handing out the cash.

Just a thought, has anyone done a study as to whether home burglaries and firearm thefts increase in the days or weeks prior to a gun "buy back" program?

  4. Interesting, how three of the top ten poll questins are about investigations of city officials' corruption.
Yeah, broken. Three out of three comments were anti-buy-"back." How embarrassing.
Take established neighborhoods and bulldoze them in favor of barracks-like public housing. Mandate that couples with children cannot live together and still be eligible for housing and assistance, breaking up family units and the incentive to form them. Prohibit the private use of nonprescriptin substances, guaranteeing a huge profit for those entrepreneurs who don't care about laws. Pay teachers low wages so the best stay away, and use taxes to build monuments failures named for city officials instead. Use a natural disaster as a thin excuse to bring in foreign (out-of-state) cops and the military to intimidate people into giving up their guns and moving from SAFE homes to processing centers. Mix well, and then express amazement and concern when some people have the same low regard for life, peace and safety as their government does.
