A man who was taking the garbage out at his job and was suddenly attacked by a Cookeville Police dog last year has filed a $2 million lawsuit against the police department. [More]But isn't that the kind of training and response we've come to expect from the "Only Ones"?
Me, I say the guy's lucky he wasn't charged with felony assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

They'll probably charge the guy after the fact to break the lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least we have a historical basis for the "what would the outcome have been if the Only One / peasant status were reversed?" question. The dog would have been shot and the owner immediately prosecuted. Or, perhaps the reverse. (These guys are getting more creative as they get less fearful of anything actually repercussing.)
ReplyDeleteI passed a canine officer on the sidewalk once, smiled at him and his dog, and the German Shepherd tried to eat my face.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell kind of training...?
Would a HUMAN partner have grabbed me by the shirtfront with his fist cocked back for a punch? For walking past?
Hey, Eric Holder. The civil rights marchers in Selma and Birmingham were just walking, too. Copdogs ate them alive. Your ATF officers are much the same.
I got your dialogue.
And yet, all we see on all the cop shows are well behaved animals who only try restrain the perps. On the other hand, the dogs on those shows only sit there and look pretty.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about anywhere else, but here in Wyoming if any dog even comes at you in a threatening manner, or threatens anyone else/livestock, you have a perfect right to shoot it on the spot.
ReplyDeleteIf that man had been properly armed, the dog would have been dead fast and he would not have been harmed - at least not by the dog.
Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of out of control cops and their nasty familiars...
