So the Home Secretary says "The fact that a stabbing leads to the tragedy of a death is nothing to do with the perpetrator of the stabbing, its to do with how quickly the health service got to them, etc." See it's not the perpetrators fault. I guess the problem is we need higher taxes to pay for better emergency response services.
Maybe they're missing something. Professor Marian Fitzgerald, a criminologist at Kent University, said the government was putting too much emphasis on knife carrying instead of knife crime. She said: "They have thrown a lot at very visible police enforcement, lots of stop and search, most of which yields nothing."
Two things jump out: Very visible police presence accomplishing nothing - Security Theater; Hassling and incarcerating people carrying knives and doing little to stop actual violent knife crime - more anthropomorphizing an inanimate object rather than assigning the blame where it belongs, which is with the criminals.

Just as you cannot carry a police officer with you, you cannot carry a paramedic or EMT with you.
