A Detroit Victim

The victim got out of his car, knocked out the other driver's window and began to pull the man out of the vehicle. The 29-year-old then shot at the 33-year-old, hitting him twice, Stephens said. The 29-year-old had a valid permit for the gun. [More]
Yeah, that sure sounds like a victim to me. Which must make the guy who defended himself the victimizer.

I'd say Christine MacDonald of The Detroit News is one "Authorized Journalist" who understands exactly what's expected of her.

UPDATE: Mack asks me in comments what I'm talking about, and says the word "victim" appears nowhere in the article.

That's probably because The Detroit News practices "Authorized Journalism," and doesn't feel compelled to issue corrections or retractions when it's so much easier just to change things and hope no one notices.

For the time being, you can still catch the original over at Google cache. After that's gone, all we'll have is this (click to enlarge):

    It says, in relevant part:

"The older driver got out of his car, knocked out the other driver's window and began to pull the man out of the vehicle."

The word VICTIM appears nowhere in the article.

  3. The Google cache has the original wording of the article, but if you want to print it for posterity you'll have to cut and paste because the print button only allows the re-write version.

Apparently the Detriot News contains only the news that's print to fit.

  4. This illustrates the real danger of relying on the internet for news as a substitute for printing (or as we say now, hard-copy).

Anything that is fungible can be manipulated.

Here today, gone an hour from now.

  5. One does wonder why these "news" outfits don't hire at least one or two actual adults to supervise some of this so-called writing.

This seems a clear cut case of self defense.

Due to the changeable nature of information on the intertubes, it might be a good idea to do a screen grab when encountering such interesting stuff.

  9. According to the news video, the DEFENDER who shot the AGGRESSOR is now in police custody while they "sort this out".

What the hell is there to sort out? Try to pull me out of my car and you'll definitely eat lead!

  12. Sounds like the 33-y-o is the ultimate "vbictim" in that he's shot and dead (good cleaning out of the gene pool), and the 29-y-o is still alive to tell the tale.

I wonder how the well the 29-y-o will survive HIS bout with "justice".
