Holder First Squall in an Approaching Storm

We all saw "The Terminator," right?
"He said there's a storm coming in."

"I know."
We see it approaching, and we see an opportunity to set its advance temporarily back while we scramble to prepare for the onslaught. It's now up to you if you will do anything about it, and if so, what. [More]
Today's wrap-up of the Holder series from my Gun Rights Examiner column...

Self-Storage

Federal agents alerted to a large cache of military explosives and other weapons in a Bellevue storage unit have arrested a Spokane man. [More]
I wonder what this is about...?

Anybody know anything about this guy?

We're the Only Ones Involuntary Enough

Justice officials say they arrested Agent William Clark with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He also was charged with involuntary manslaughter and using a dangerous weapon during a violent crime. [More]
Not just an "Only One,"--a BATFU "Only One"...

I'm certainly glad folks like William are out there to make sure we don't own any guns we shouldn't have...

H. R. 17

To protect the right to obtain firearms for security, and to use firearms in defense of self, family, or home, and to provide for the enforcement of such right. [More]
My initial read says this would be a considerable improvement over where we are now, plus open some doors. If anyone disagrees, please educate me.

Does it have a chance?

Not if we don't make it happen.

And assuming others don't discourage us from trying because it exhausts too much "political capital."

We're the Only Ones Nutritious Enough

An Alabama sheriff who made $212,000 in the last three years by feeding inmates what a judge said were skimpy portions was released from prison Thursday after submitting a plan pledging to feed them better. [More]
Hey, he's just taking advantage of a menu of incentives designed to reward "Only Ones" while the productive sector picks up the tab...

We're the Only Ones "All in the Family" Enough

A former Columbia police officer faces kidnapping and assault charges after a 13-hour hostage standoff at an interstate hotel 60 miles east of Atlanta ended peacefully Monday....

Police said Dietz and Jamie Lynn Burgess, 17, abducted Allim Dietz, 7 months, and Dietz’s estranged wife, Eva Perez, 29, from West Columbia Saturday night. [More]
A family reunion..."Only Ones"-style...

Just Give Them What They Want

Robbers shoot, kill bartender execution-style [More]
That's apparently what they wanted...

Citizen Journalists

Fast as the media was to respond, it relied on the amateur video captured at the scene --and even professional reports were then edited and repurposed by citizen journalists dedicated to telling their own version of the tale. When speaking to the jaded pros, police spokespeople have found themselves chasing a story driven by grassroots outrage -- one that couldn't be put to rest by stroking a few familiar faces. [More]
J.D. Tuccille touches on a subject familiar to WarOnGuns regulars: why we shouldn't rely on "Authorized Journalists" for the last word.

As we've seen time and again, many times we can't even get a first word out of them, or the ones they come up with are both hopelessly ignorant and agenda-driven.

Storm Warning! Obama Will Attack...

Sources from Washington are telling me that President-Elect Obama may move forward on an Assault Weapons/Magazine Capacity Ban ASAP — maybe as soon as later this January. [More]
"He said there's a storm coming in."

"I know."

The War in Gaza - A Militia View

One of the things forgotten in America today is that war is the normal state of being for man. Throughout the history of the human race we find one war after another, and very few, if any, real periods of peace. In fact, the only time we find real peace is when nations are prepared for war, and will not go to war, because their prospective opponents are too well armed, and the risk and cost are far too high. [More]
I agree.

Via Paul W. Davis, who tells me:
There are many possibilities to explore here, but the first order of business is to be mentally prepared for what may come. After all, many folks in this country cease to function after a natural disaster, and virtually give up and give in, never taking responsibility, and never being proactive about recovering from the disaster. This does not bode well for our ability to withstand invasion and war on our own soil.
Again, I agree.

We're the Only Ones Protecting the Queen Enough

Attempted burglary victim was former Rose Queen

Camille Clark hid in a closet in her room and called to alert police to a burglary at her house...

...A police officer fired several gunshots at an SUV driven by one of the suspects when it approached him, authorities said. [More]
Hell of a defense plan, isn't it? Hide in a closet and hope you don't get dragged out for the party?

And what's with the cop firing at a vehicle that "approached him"? Did it try to run over him? And was he certain everyone in the SUV was a bad guy, that they didn't take the victim with them?

Regardless, Ms. Clark got off easy this time.

I wonder if she'll continue to rely on the "Only Ones" as her first and only line of defense in the future?

This Day in History: January 9

I observe our people (a few excepted) are firm &> not to be shaken. A great number of volunteers may be had. I hope all the enlistments mayz be filled, but doubt if it can soon be done. I am endeavoring at vigorus measures. Languor seems to have been diffused thro the Naval department. However I hope it will mend. The Cherokees are humbled, but I fear hostility about Pittsburg in the spring... [More]
