I'm sure State Sen. Karen Peterson, D-New Orleans, who "voted against the bill" would be real useful in a situation where someone ignored the damn law and did what they felt like.

Still, perhaps the politicians are focusing on the wrong weapon:

I wonder if someone being bludgeoned to death in church by a maniac would find themselves wishing they could make it stop?
