Well, No Wonder
GRE Round Up for Mar. 14
There's some good stuff being turned out. I hope you're availing yourself of it, and importantly, sharing these links via emails, on blogs and forums, with your local newspaper editor, etc.
A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."
These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.
Here are their latest offerings:
John Longenecker/Los Angeles:
Safer Streets 2010: 'Hollow victory' for gun owners in McDonald?
Kurt Hofmann/St. Louis:
Jogger killed by wolves shows wisdom of national park gun rule change
You're doing that, right?

One police department suggests TASERs for self-defense; another trades theirs for 'patrol rifles'
Chris Woodard/Tucson:
As gun owners, can we always call ourselves law abiding citizens ? (I certainly hope not.)

We're the Only Ones Getting a Second Chance Enough
Philadelphia police say eight officers who were fired or disciplined after a TV news helicopter captured video of them beating three suspects are getting their jobs back or punishments reduced. [More]Now, now, settle down--I'm sure you and I would get a second chance if we beat the hell out of eight thug Philly "Only Ones." Besides, what better way to discourage future institutionally-sanctioned brutality than by giving out wrist slaps?

California Adds to Illinois State Police Recommendations
Women interested in self defense can add another tool to their self-defense kit, another weapon to their arsenal...
A real-world and peer-reviewed field test in California has resulted in one more option you can employ against an attacker if the time-proven recommendations of vomiting, surrendering, screaming (while poking with "a rat tail comb") or pulling the covers over your head don't work.
Jump!
Go ahead and jump...

Job Application Fail
...the suspect entered the store asking about getting a job there. He left but returned a few minutes later and allegedly held a gun to the clerk’s head. As the suspect led the clerk to a back room, the clerk called out "I need help" and a co-owner, Eric Bilger, appeared with a gun.I guess it's a good thing this didn't happen elsewhere.
Gunfire was exchanged. [More]
Meanwhile, The Toledo Blade reports this stuff, yet continues on its anti-armed citizen crusade. I guess they'll continue until subscribers and advertisers realize they are patronizing people who would rather see them dead than armed--and then cease giving aid and comfort to their enemy.
An Unlikely Place?
Two guns used in shootings this year at the Pentagon and a Las Vegas courthouse both came from the same unlikely place: the police and court system of Memphis, Tenn.It sounds like a setup to demand guns be destroyed instead...Law enforcement officials from multiple agencies tell The Associated Press the guns were once seized as evidence in criminal investigations in Memphis and made their way separately to the shooters. We're the Only Ones CUM ULLA SELLA IN PUGNO TABERNA Enough
The man who stopped a bar shooting incident by hitting the suspected gunman with a chair was hailed as a hero on Monday."Any chair in a barfight" and an "Only One" gone bad...tell me this story wasn't written for WarOnGuns!
The Saturday night shootings at Jim's Sports Club Bar and Grill left one man dead, another critically wounded and a third with a less serious wound. Authorities said the suspect, Jason Musburger, 47, a former Chisholm police officer, had gone to the bar to confront his ex-wife. [More]
By the Truck-Load
A Quad Cities Area business is planning a promotion that's sure to be the target of debate. It's hosting a truck-load sale. If you buy a truck-load of guns they'll thrown in a military truck for free. [More]The most significant thing I see here is that this would be a target of debate.
I can't help but imagine a truckload of sheep on their way to a destination they have no control over bleating "Disa-a-a-a-rrrm u-u-u-sss..."
Punishment for Armed Self-Defense Still the Norm in NYC and DC
I said "ongoing"? Yes, these letters appeared on page 10 in the March 1960 issue of GUNS Magazine, now online. Regular Gun Rights Examiner readers know that every month I highlight this great website feature offered by the magazine I write the "Rights Watch" column for: They post online the corresponding issue from 50 years before. This Day in History: March 14
